Join the Mountain Top Fire Company - Become a Volunteer Firefighter Today!

Welcome to the Mountain Top Fire Company! We are proud to serve our community in Rush Township, safeguarding lives and property with dedication, courage, and skill. Located at Centre County Station 13 in Sandy Ridge, Pennsylvania, we are a cornerstone of safety and preparedness for the region. Our history dates back to 1927, and since then, we have grown into a highly skilled team providing fire suppression, rescue operations, and emergency medical services to approximately 1,500 residents in our local area, with EMS coverage extending to an additional 3,000 residents in nearby Osceola Mills and surrounding areas.

Our members serve a unique, rural area that includes nearly 22,000 acres of Pennsylvania State Game Lands and a busy 10-mile section of State Route 350. We are looking for dedicated, community-minded individuals to join us as volunteer firefighters. Volunteering with the Mountain Top Fire Company offers more than just training and excitement; it’s a chance to give back to your community, gain invaluable life skills, and become part of a supportive, driven team.

Why Volunteer with Us?

Volunteering with the Mountain Top Fire Company is a rewarding opportunity to make a difference in the lives of friends, family, and neighbors. Here are just a few of the benefits our volunteers enjoy:

1. Hands-On Training and Development

  • As a volunteer firefighter, you’ll receive comprehensive training on firefighting techniques, rescue operations, and emergency medical response. This includes access to modern firefighting equipment and real-life scenarios that will build your confidence, skill, and capability in handling emergencies.
  • You’ll work alongside experienced professionals who will guide and mentor you, preparing you for everything from fire suppression to specialized rescue operations.

2. Professional Certification Opportunities

  • Our volunteers have the chance to earn state and national certifications that can lead to career advancement and open doors in fields related to emergency response, fire science, and public safety.
  • This is an invaluable experience whether you’re considering a future in professional firefighting, EMS, or related fields.

3. Serve Your Community and Make a Lasting Impact

  • Volunteering with us is an opportunity to provide critical services in Rush Township and surrounding areas. Whether responding to fires, vehicle accidents on Route 350, or medical emergencies, you’ll make a direct impact, helping your neighbors in times of need.
  • Our area includes the vast and scenic PA State Game Lands, and with local knowledge and quick response, we help preserve these lands and protect the people who use them.

4. Camaraderie and Support

  • Firefighting is a team effort, and when you join Mountain Top Fire Company, you join a family. Our team values the bonds formed through shared experiences, challenges, and victories. This camaraderie extends beyond the firehouse, creating friendships and connections that last a lifetime.

5. Financial Benefits and Support for Volunteers

  • Although volunteering doesn’t involve a salary, some programs and incentives help with training costs and equipment needs. Mountain Top Fire Company is a 501(c)(3) organization, meaning donations are tax-deductible, and we continuously work to secure grants and support for our volunteers’ needs.

Who Can Join?

We welcome individuals of all backgrounds who are passionate about serving their community. Our team includes both career (EMS) and volunteer members, with roles that span firefighting, emergency medical services, administration, and more.
