EMS Services at Mountain Top Fire Company
The Mountain Top Fire Company proudly operates two Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances: a 2019 Ford Transit Type II Demers Series and a 2017 Ford Transit Type II Demers Series. These ambulances are stationed across two locations to ensure rapid response and quality care.
- Main Station: Located in Sandy Ridge.
- Ambulance Sub-Station: Located in Osceola Mills at 199 Hale Street, this station is staffed Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM to better serve Osceola Mills Borough and the surrounding Decatur Township, where most of our calls originate.
In cases requiring Advanced Life Support (ALS), Moshannon Valley EMS from Philipsburg will join the response and provide ALS care while utilizing our ambulances for transport.
During non-staffed hours (4 PM to 8 AM on weekdays, and throughout the weekends), we have an on-call crew of paid staff and volunteers, ensuring 24/7 ambulance availability.
Commitment to Quality Care
Mountain Top Fire Company is dedicated to providing the highest level of care. Our teams train daily, and all equipment is maintained and inspected regularly to ensure readiness for any emergency. Our BLS ambulance service is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and is recognized at the Master Level in pediatric care through the EMS Child Recognition Program.
Annual Ambulance Subscription Drive
Our 2025 Ambulance Subscription Drive is currently underway. We provide third-party billing, meaning that after an emergency transport, we bill your health insurance for reimbursement. Since insurance often covers only a portion of the cost, subscribing to our ambulance service ensures you won’t face significant out-of-pocket expenses. Subscription rates are:
- $75 for a family membership (covering all household members)
- $50 for an individual membership
By subscribing, any unpaid portion of your ambulance bill is waived, giving you peace of mind. Non-subscribers may face a $50 fee for non-billable services, such as a lift assist, while subscribers are charged only $25.
Purchasing a subscription not only protects your family financially, but it also supports our service by helping us maintain vital life-saving equipment. If you did not receive your membership and would like one, please call 814-339-7410 or send an email to emsmembership@mountaintopfireco13.org.
Life-Threatening Emergencies: What You Need to Know
STROKE: Act FAST
Recognize the signs of a stroke using the FAST method:
- Face: Is one side of the face drooping?
- Arms: Can both arms be raised, or does one drift downward?
- Speech: Is the speech slurred or unusual?
- Time: Call 911 immediately—time is critical.
CARDIAC ARREST
Immediate CPR and defibrillation are essential within the first 10 minutes of cardiac arrest. We encourage all community members and businesses to learn CPR and have access to an AED. For assistance in finding a class or purchasing an AED, please contact us.
OPIOID OVERDOSE CRISIS
Opioid misuse has become a national epidemic. Knowing how to respond to an overdose can save lives. We provide resources for both first responders and laypersons on the administration of naloxone, a life-saving overdose reversal drug. Please visit the following links for more information:
